What is a Maiasaura?
Maiasaura was a duck-billed (hadrosauric) REAL DINSOAUR during the late cretaceous period.
Translated to “Good Mother Lizard”, the species was the first discovery by scientists of pack behavior in which dinosaurs cared for their young.
Maiasaura would cover her nest with leaves and other vegetation so her babies would be safe while she foraged for food.
The discoveries show multiple ages of juvenile Maiasaura, suggesting that they stayed in a community.
This family-esque structure helped Maiasaura babies grow strong until they could safely hold their own in the herd.
SO CLEARLY I RELATE TO THIS MAJESTIC CREATURE
And the more I learned, the more I was impressed and amused to share a name with her.
